Peer Review Policy
The International Journal of Dental Discovery and Research (IJDDR) follows a rigorous, transparent, and unbiased double-blind peer review process to ensure the highest standards of academic quality, scientific integrity, and ethical publishing. The journal is committed to publishing original, methodologically sound, and clinically relevant research that contributes meaningfully to the advancement of dental sciences.
All manuscripts submitted to IJDDR undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their suitability with respect to the journal’s aims and scope, originality, ethical compliance, and basic methodological quality. Submissions that do not meet these preliminary criteria or fail to comply with journal guidelines may be rejected at this stage without external review.
Double-Blind Review Process
IJDDR employs a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process. This approach minimizes potential bias and ensures objective, fair, and independent evaluation of all submitted manuscripts.
Each eligible manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent experts with relevant subject expertise. Reviewers are selected based on their academic credentials, research experience, and familiarity with the manuscript’s topic.
Review Criteria
Reviewers are requested to evaluate manuscripts based on the following criteria:
-
Originality and novelty of the research
-
Scientific rigor and methodological soundness
-
Relevance to dental research and clinical practice
-
Clarity of objectives, data presentation, and conclusions
-
Ethical compliance and adherence to research standards
-
Appropriateness of references and citations
Editorial Decision Process
Based on reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief or assigned Handling Editor will make one of the following decisions:
-
Accept without revision
-
Accept with minor revisions
-
Accept with major revisions
-
Reject
Authors receiving revision requests are expected to submit a revised manuscript along with a detailed response to reviewers’ comments within the stipulated timeframe. Revised manuscripts may be subject to further review to ensure that all concerns have been adequately addressed.
Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers are required to:
-
Maintain strict confidentiality of the manuscript
-
Declare any potential conflicts of interest
-
Provide constructive, objective, and timely feedback
-
Refrain from using unpublished data for personal research
Editorial Independence and Transparency
The editorial board of IJDDR maintains complete independence in all publication decisions. Acceptance of a manuscript is based solely on scientific merit, originality, and relevance, and is not influenced by the authors’ institutional affiliation, nationality, gender, or funding sources.
Plagiarism and Research Misconduct Screening
All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using reliable plagiarism detection software. Any manuscript found to contain significant plagiarism, data manipulation, duplicate publication, or ethical misconduct will be rejected or retracted in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policy.
Timeline and Review Integrity
IJDDR strives to complete the peer review process in a timely manner while maintaining review quality. The average review period may vary depending on the complexity of the manuscript and reviewer availability, but transparency and fairness remain central to the process.
Compliance with International Standards
The peer review process of IJDDR aligns with internationally recognized guidelines, including those recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and best practices expected by major indexing and abstracting databases such as Scopus
