Notes and Commenting Functions

Notes & Commenting

At the International Journal of Dental Discovery and Research (IJDDR), we encourage scholarly engagement, constructive discussion, and collaboration through our notes and commenting functions. These features are intended to enhance interaction around published articles and foster a meaningful exchange of ideas among authors, readers, researchers, and dental professionals.

1. Notes

  • Purpose: Notes provide readers with an opportunity to share brief insights, clarifications, observations, or additional information related to specific sections, findings, or points within a published article.
  • Functionality: Where available, readers may submit notes directly through the article webpage. Such notes may be made available to other readers and can contribute to a better understanding of the published research.
  • Guidelines: Notes should be concise, relevant, constructive, and directly related to the content of the article. They should provide useful clarification, additional context, or scholarly insight rather than unrelated discussion.

2. Commenting Functions

  • Purpose: Commenting allows readers and researchers to engage in more detailed discussions concerning an article's methodology, findings, clinical relevance, limitations, implications, and broader scientific context.
  • Functionality: Where commenting functionality is provided, registered users may post comments on the relevant article page. Comments may be moderated to ensure that discussions remain constructive and consistent with academic and professional standards.
  • Guidelines: Comments should be substantive, respectful, evidence-based, and relevant to the published work. Personal attacks, offensive language, unsupported allegations, promotional content, or comments unrelated to the article may be removed.

Benefits

  • Enhanced Interaction: Notes and comments facilitate interaction among authors, readers, researchers, and dental professionals, encouraging a collaborative scholarly environment.
  • Clarity and Insight: Readers may gain additional perspectives, explanations, and scientific insights through constructive discussion with peers and experts.
  • Continuous Learning: These functions support continuous learning and professional development by encouraging ongoing engagement with published dental and oral health research.
  • Scientific Discussion: Constructive comments can help identify additional perspectives, methodological considerations, limitations, and potential areas for future research.

Community Guidelines

  • Respectful Dialogue: All interactions should be conducted respectfully, professionally, and in accordance with principles of academic integrity. Differences in scientific opinion should be expressed objectively and constructively.
  • Relevance: Notes and comments should be directly related to the article or the scientific discussion arising from the published work.
  • Evidence-Based Contributions: Where appropriate, scientific claims, criticisms, or recommendations should be supported by reliable evidence or relevant references.
  • No Personal Attacks: Comments must not contain harassment, discriminatory statements, defamatory remarks, threats, or personal attacks against authors, readers, reviewers, or other participants.
  • Confidentiality: Users must not post confidential patient information, personally identifiable information, unpublished research data, or other material that should not be publicly disclosed.
  • Moderation: IJDDR may moderate, edit, restrict, or remove notes and comments that violate these guidelines or applicable ethical, legal, or publication standards.

Moderation and Removal

IJDDR reserves the right to review and moderate contributions to maintain the quality and integrity of scholarly discussions.

Comments or notes may be removed where they contain plagiarism, offensive or inappropriate material, misleading information, advertising or promotional content, personal attacks, confidential information, or material unrelated to the published article.

Repeated violations may result in restriction or suspension of commenting privileges.

Author Participation

Authors are encouraged to engage constructively with questions and comments relating to their published research. Authors may provide clarifications, additional explanations, or relevant references where appropriate.

Participation in comments does not replace the formal process for correcting errors in a published article. Significant factual or scientific errors should be reported to the editorial office and may be addressed through the journal's correction or post-publication review procedures.

Editorial Independence

Notes and comments are separate from the formal peer-review and editorial decision-making processes. Participation in discussions does not influence the acceptance, rejection, or editorial evaluation of manuscripts under consideration.

By providing notes and commenting functions, the International Journal of Dental Discovery and Research (IJDDR) aims to promote constructive scholarly communication and advance knowledge in dental, oral, and allied health sciences.
